Welcome to The Punch Bowl

Sitting proudly on Bridge Road in Silsden, The Punch Bowl has been part of the local scene for over 230 years. The exact origins are a bit of a mystery, but a datestone on the building reads 1784—though whether that marks the pub's opening or the arrival of a notable landlord, no one's quite sure. What we do know is that The Punch Bowl has been at the heart of the community for generations, offering good drinks, great company, and a warm welcome.

A Pub with History

Local records suggest The Punch Bowl has been serving Silsden since at least the late 18th century, standing the test of time as the town has grown and changed around it. Over the years, it's been more than just a place to grab a pint—it's been a meeting point, a social hub, and a spot where history has unfolded.

The hill just outside, known as Punch Bowl Hill, was a lively centre of activity in Victorian and Edwardian times. Back then, it wasn't just the go-to spot for a drink, but also:

• A gathering place for local meetings and events.
• A transport hub where horse-drawn carriages and early buses came and went.
• A fairground hosting sheep and cattle markets, political rallies, and carnival fairs—right up until 1914.
